Coyin's Turn

Collin's pretty sure that I was neglectful of the letter "Y" when I named him. See, Bryon's name has a "y" hanging out there where most people don't think there should be one in there. Most people just call him Byron if they see his name written, or spell it Brian if they don't know any better. And his sister, Robyn has a "y" there where it's at least more common. But, since Collin got left out of the McClain "y" game, he's decided to start pronouncing his name with a "y," thus "Coyin."

Granny has been hearing this name this weekend. She got to play "moon" with him last night and hear him say, "Coyin's turn!" over and over again while he played. For those of you who don't know, "moon," is the game version of the story, Goodnight Moon. It's pretty simply just matching picture cards to a board. No one loses and it's just teaching taking turns and cognitive skills. He was a champ at it last night, despite his lack of nap.
And, today, we went to the beach because the weather was another rockingly beautiful day and what else should you do in the middle of January? Ski? Stay inside with hot chocolate? No way! Of course, we should hang at the beach and play with sand.
We didn't go in the water, both because the winter water is way too cold and because the bacteria levels were too high for venturing into the surf for today. Ewwww. Gross. But, it was pretty fun to play in the sand all morning.
Of course, there's still time out at the beach! Sorry folks. Mommy's a stickler for rules. No throwing sand on the blanket! Which of course, I couldn't have carried to the car without my dear boy's help! It, of course, would NOT have been easier to fold it up and carry it to the car. That would have been a silly idea.
Then, we went to Ports O' Call for lunch. You can tell for yourself what Coyin enjoyed! Yep, looking at boats and birds. None of which wanted to hug him at the beach...poor Collin. Oops, I mean Coyin.
